If you wish to open all the treasure boxes in the Treasure Room, you will need 20 gold keys.
Important: Don’t mix up gold keys and demon keys!
When I initially started playing, I always mixed these two up. Let me explain this:
Gold Keys: – Open gold boxes in the Treasure Room – Not as common as demon keys – You only need 20 total – There are two ways to get them (described below)
Demon Keys: – unlock normal silver and bronze chests in the Treasure Room – You need 3,500 of these to unlock all normal chests
– You can get them by collecting 500 mana orbs (the blue gems) or by opening daily chests.
You won’t mix them up again after you see them next to each other because they seem so different.
How to Get Gold Keys (The TWO Ways)
In my experience and with the most recent game updates, these are the only real ways to get gold keys:
Step 1: Finish the event levels (the easier way)
This is the newest and most reliable method that was added in the 2.207 upgrade.
What Are the Levels of an Event?
RobTop, the person who made the game, chooses and shows out event levels for a short period. You can locate them on the Online Menu, near to Daily Levels and Weekly Demons.
This Is How It Works:
1. Open Geometry Dash
2. Click on the computer symbol to open the Online Menu.
3. Find the Event button, which is next to Daily and Weekly.
4. Finish the level for the highlighted event
5. Open the chest with the prize
6. You can get a gold key at some event levels!
The catch: Not every level of an event offers a gold key. Instead, some offer you standard demon keys.
What levels of events give out gold keys?
– All demon difficulty event levels give out gold keys.
– Some really hard levels, like RUINS and Stronghold, also award gold keys.
– Regular demon keys are frequently given out at easy and medium event levels.
Sadly, you won’t know what prize you’ll earn until the event level shows up. RobTop is the only one who can make this decision.
From what I’ve seen: Event levels change all the time, so come back often. Some event levels are surprisingly easy to handle with practice mode, even if you’re not very good at hard levels.
Method 2: The Wraith’s Secret Chests (The Old Way)
This was the only way to earn gold keys before event levels were added, and it still works.
What Is The Wraith?
You can get the Wraith by opening 50 demon key vaults in the Treasure Room. Once you unlock it, The Wraith shows up and gives you amazing secret chests.
How to Get Gold Keys from The Wraith:
1. Get five demon keys to open the Treasure Room.
2. Use demon keys to open 50 regular chests.
3. The Wraith will show up and open a new screen.
4. There are 20 gold chests on the Wraith’s screen.
5. To open each of these vaults, you need one gold key.
6. You earn gold keys from… wait, this is the tricky part
This is the issue: The Wraith technique used to be the best way to earn gold keys, but today most people get their initial gold keys from event levels and then use them to open The Wraith’s chests.
The traditional way was to open a lot of regular chests and hope to get gold keys, but I’ve discovered that event levels are considerably more reliable in the three years I’ve been playing.
How to Get into the Treasure Room (This Is What You Need)
You need to get into the Treasure Room before you can use gold keys.
Requirements:
1. Get 5 demon keys first. 2. Open the Online Menu.
3. Click the purple door in the lower right corner.
4. The Keymaster will let you in once you have 5 keys
How to gain your first five demon keys:
– Get 500 mana orbs to get 1 demon key
– Open daily chests; sometimes they include demon keys in them.
– Finish the Rogue’s quests
When I originally started, it took me about a week of playing casually to earn my first five demon keys.
The Quickest Way to Get Gold Keys
From what I’ve learned, this is the best way to go:
Week 1-2: Open the Treasure Room
– Play graded levels every day to get mana orbs
– Open the daily chests every four hours when you can. Get five demon keys and open the Treasure Room.
Week 3+: Concentrate on Event Levels
– Check for new event levels often. – Try to finish them (use practice mode!).
– Gold keys for events that are demon- or insane-level difficult – Don’t worry if you can’t beat the hardest ones
Ongoing: Collect Demon Keys
– Open 50 standard treasure chests – Unlock The Wraith – Save your gold keys for The Wraith’s special chests
Common Mistakes I Made (So You Don’t Have To)
Mistake #1: Believing You Can Buy Gold Keys
You cannot use real money or in-game currency to buy gold keys. You have to earn them by playing the game.
I wasted time looking for a store that sells them, but it doesn’t exist.
Mistake #2: Mixing up the types of keys
When I first started, I kept getting gold keys, demon keys, and the colored keys (green, orange, etc.) mixed up. They are all diverse and serve different purposes.
Mistake #3: Not going to all the event levels
When event levels first came out, I didn’t pay attention to them because some of them looked too hard. That was a big error! Trying them out in practice mode is a good way to learn, and the gold key prizes are worth it.
Mistake #4: Opening random chests with gold keys
There are just twenty gold chests in all. Don’t just open them all at once; first, look at what incentives each part has. Some players choose to keep their keys until they can unlock The Wraith.
What Do Gold Chests Contain?
From opening multiple gold boxes myself, here’s what you can expect:
– Unique icons (cubes, ships, UFOs, balls, waves) – Color combinations that are hard to find
– Effects and trails that are special
– Cosmetics that you can’t find anywhere else
The awards are just for looks; they won’t make levels easier, but they will make your profile appear great.
Tips for New Players
If you just started playing Geometry Dash:
Don’t worry about gold keys right away: Pay attention to: – Learning the basic rules of the game
– Getting through easier stages
– Opening the Treasure Room initially – Getting used to practice mode
As you get better, gold keys come effortlessly. It’s very typical that I didn’t get my first one until I had been playing for months.

What about Gold Key Hacks or Generators?
Don’t go near these. They don’t work, and they can: – Get your account banned – Steal your information – Put viruses on your device
I’ve seen players lose all they’ve worked for by using phony key generators. It’s not worth it.
The only real ways to earn gold keys are through event levels and the Wraith system.
My Personal Journey with Gold Keys
I got my first gold key for finishing the event level Citadel, which was really hard. I definitely failed it more than 200 times before I finally beat it in practice mode and was ready to try it for real.
Was it hard to deal with? Of course.
Was it satisfying to ultimately overcome it and get the gold key? You bet.
The challenge in Geometry Dash is what makes it fun; when you win, it feels good.
